Age Wave Planning

Summit II Held; Initial Survey Results Released

The ODP’s Age Wave Summit II was held May 19, 2011 at the Conference Center at Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Virginia.

Almost 300 participants heard presentations and speeches from Delegate John O’Bannon, Secretary of Health & Human Resources Bill Hazel, a panel discussion, and updates on the various Regional Age Wave Plans currently underway (see below).

Amongst the highlights were some of the initial findings of the Age Wave Indicators Survey, commissioned by the ODP through Southeastern Institute of Research, as presented by John Martin, president of SIR and a nationally renowned expert on the topic (see below). Dr. Richard Lindsay shared with the group the various ways that the data collected from the survey will be of use. This study will continue throughout the summer, in partnership with the Virginia Association of Area Agencies on Aging, to ensure that the data collected from 5,000 respondents will truly represent all of the Commonwealth’s citizens.
